Wood Green in the London Borough of Haringey could be set to receive a huge make-over. The area is the subject of a £3.5 billion proposal that would regenerate the town centre, create 7,700 homes, and deliver over a million square feet of employment space. As part of the work 25 sites would be redeveloped.
The project could transform Wood Green into a major shopping destination. The new commercial space could be used for all kinds of shops and restaurants as well as offices. The redevelopment of the town centre will support even more businesses. On top of this the arrival of Crossrail will improve the transport links even further.
Over the last few years Wood Green has become increasingly attractive to investors. It has more affordable prices than neighbouring areas in Haringey whilst offering good connectivity and some really great amenities. The popularity is reflected in the growth in house prices. These are up 26% on 2014, reaching an average over £460,000.
The plans to regenerate Wood Green will undoubtedly draw even more investors to the area. This could accelerate if the plans advance further. A period of consultation is currently underway, allowing people to present their views before 31st March.
Haringey Council has been considering redevelopment of Wood Green for several years. An initial consultation was held in 2015, presenting four different options. Businesses and residents overwhelmingly favoured the current plan at the time. This bodes very well for the project.
