Although Halloween was a few days ago, we thought it was a great idea to look at the spookiest locations in London. Luckily, Barratt Homes did a study to rank areas. They consider things like number of cemeteries, ghost sightings, spooky tours, famous supernatural beings, and Halloween events. Let’s have a look at the findings, then if you need reliable services like property management in Bromley, you can speak to us.
Top spot
According to the data, the spookiest borough is Westminster. It got an impressive 78/100, putting it miles ahead of every other location. The City of London in second place only got 39/100.
Westminster’s ranking is interesting because the area doesn’t have any cemeteries. However, it does have the most ghost sightings of any borough by a long way. It has a number of hotspots, including Baker Street, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, and even 10 Downing Street. Not surprisingly, there are plenty of tours and were the joint most Halloween events in the city.
Top Five
As we said, City of London had the second spot. It also was a bit of a surprise because there are no cemeteries. However, it had a large number of ghost sightings. Plus, it was the top area for ghost tours.
The third spot went to Enfield. Now we see the number of cemeteries start to have an impact. It has the second highest total in London, only trailing Richmond upon Thames. It also had plenty of ghost sightings. However, it was let down by not having any events or tours.
The fourth spot is one we know well from offering property management in Bromley. It got a good score for cemeteries because there are five in the borough. Plus, it was the second for the locations for ghost sightings. It has some notable hotspots for ghosts, including The Chequers pub and Bromley United Services Club.
Finally we had Tower Hamlets to round out the top five. It was the highest area to score across the board. It has one cemetery, had three Halloween events, and a number tours and ghost sightings. Most interestingly, it is home to the higher number of supernatural beings because of the Tower of London. People have reported seeing the ghosts of Guy Fawkes, Lady Jane Grey, and Henry VI.
Locations for scaredy cats
Not all parts of London are full of ghosts and frights though. The study found that three areas, Bexley, Harrow and Kingston upon Thames, only got a score of 1/100. They each had a single ghost sighting. However there are no cemeteries or tours, and there were no events for Halloween.
