London’s first new lido

Firstly, last month Redbridge Council gave planning permission for a new outdoor swimming pool at Valentines Park, Ilford. It will be the first newly built lido in London in decades.

Estate upgrades

The second story is a great example of estate management in Redbridge. United Living secured a £5m contract to upgrade four housing blocks on the Ray Lodge Estate in Woodford. The properties date back to the 70s, but this will be the first major upgrades in the last two decades.

Plans for improving the properties include the installation of solar panels to boost sustainability. There will also be work to change the roofing, swapping from pitched roofs to flat. It will make it easier to maintain them in the future. In addition, there will be window replacements and balcony repairs. Finally, there will be asbestos removal to make the buildings safer.
