Two interesting proposals from Redbridge Council

A lot of people decide where to live in London because of the amenities in the area. In fact, some pay a premium to be close to parks, transport links, leisure facilities, and more. With that in mind, more people may want to look at Redbridge in the future. The council has two interesting proposals in the works. We want to have a look at them below, then if you need block management in Redbridge, you can come to us.

A lido

Block management RedbridgeThe first proposal was revealed in August. The council wants to build a brand new lido at Valentine’s Park. The Green Flag park is the largest in the borough and has previously been on the list of the top ten best parks in Britain.

There is an interesting precedent here. Valentine’s Park had a lido previously. It was built in the 1920s, in the east corner of the park. Locals were able to enjoy it until 1994, however it closed and was demolished in 1995. The land has been a vacant field since then.

Redbridge Council would now like to create a brand new facility on the site. It would include an outdoor 25 metre pool with 6 lanes as well as a splash pad for children, changing rooms, a cafe, a gym and dance or exercise studio, and meeting space. There would also be new areas for picnics and outdoor recreation. Plus, there would be a new car park for visitors.

The plan includes using the latest technology to make this one of the best facilities of its type. It will be sustainable and cost effective to run. In fact, the council hopes that the income it generates will cover all operating costs.

Facilities like this could make the area even more attractive to buyers, renters, and investors. We’d be happy to help the latter with our block management in Redbridge and much more.

An education and youth hub

The second proposal is to redevelop Wanstead Youth Centre to create new facilities for children, adults, and community groups. Redbridge Council wants to make it a hub for children and education.

This plan has generated a lot of attention. The current building and facilities had numerous users and locals were vocal in stating how important it is. However, the council is pushing ahead with their plans for a number of reasons. Firstly, the current building is old and requires extensive updates to ensure it meets modern standards, Secondly, it costs a huge amount to operate as it is.

With that in mind, the council made the decision to close the building in September. They are now exploring plans for renovation and creating new education and youth services. The goal is to make the property sustainable and also ensure it can cater for the coming generations of users.
