An exciting residential development is set to take place in the London Borough of Wandsworth. Permission has been granted to developers Barratt London for the construction of a 28-floor tower, designed by award-winning London architectural practice Patel Taylor. The tower is set to be constructed on one of the last remaining plots along the River Thames, at Lombard Road in Battersea.
The Lombard Wharf tower will have a distinctive “twisted” appearance due to a series of balustrades and balconies, and will include 135 residential apartments catering for a range of different budgets. 20% of the apartments will be allocated as affordable housing, which will hopefully go some way towards meeting the ever increasing demand for affordable London homes. There’ll also be offices, shops, restaurants, a gym, numerous car and bicycle parking spaces and a new public plaza at the foot of the tower. In addition to this, £1.6 million is being allocated to contribute towards improving infrastructure in the local area.
The building will reach the Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4 and have a BREEAM Excellent Rating, which means it adheres to stringent standards of sustainability in design, construction and operation. This demonstrates how modern property owners are demanding greater sustainability in architecture, and how architectural firms are working to meet environmental goals.
