Church End

This area within Finchley is like a picturesque English village, home to large family homes with well kept gardens. As a result it is a very popular place to live, and attracts a lot of different buyers and renters too. It has a similar feel to Chelsea but is further from the Thames.

A major selling point for the area is it is just a short distance from Finchley Central and the local Tube station. As a result people have fast connections on the Northern Line. They can reach Euston in under 20 minutes and it is less than half an hour to Borough. This is perfect for people who commute to work. A change to the DLR or Jubilee Line and commuters can reach Canary Wharf in around 45 minutes.

There are some great amenities in Church End. Firstly there is a Victorian/Edwardian shopping parade with useful shops and pubs. Victoria Park is a large 17 acre green space to the north of the area. It has wonderful ornamental trees and gardens, open grassland, and playgrounds, tennis courts and also playing fields. The park won a Green Flag award in 2010.

Landmark buildings

The area has a couple of really famous buildings. Firstly is St Mary’s Church. There has been a church on the site since around 675. Parts of a Normal building from 1100 still exist. The current church is 15th century.

Stephens House and Garden is a public estate with a museum and beautiful parkland. Avenue House was originally the home of the Stephens family, the developers of Blue-Black Writing Fluid. The property was left to “the people” in 1918.
