Last year Brent House, the former offices for the Town Hall, was sold for £76 million. The 1960s building on Wembley High Road was a prime site for redevelopment due to its fantastic location. The sale paved the way for the work to move forward and regeneration to occur.
Plans for a mixed use development on the 1.9 acre site were subsequently revealed. The creation of 248 new homes, around 30% of which will be designated as affordable, in two blocks is the headline figure from the plan. Alongside this there will be 6,114 square feet of retail space for businesses and open spaces for the public to make use of.
The two blocks have been designed by Davy Smith Architects. They will be seven and ten storeys in height respectively when completed. Each will be brick clad and sit beautifully in the setting.
Work on the site is set to begin in the coming weeks. It will start with the demolition of the existing building so that space can be freed up. The entire project is expected to take around three years to complete.
The creation of new homes and redevelopment of a valuable Brownfield site are both great for the immediate area and the London Borough of Brent. When finished there will be new homes for people in a central area with great transport links and amenities.
