A new tower
Sadiq Khan, the London Mayor, has given his approval to plans for a 20-storey tower in Bermondsey. This comes two years following Southwark Council’s rejection of the original proposal. Their new scheme will permit flexible development, research, and medical uses.

The redesign
KPF said that the redesigned tower came with a distinctive stepped profile. It rose to 20 storeys and includes a multitude of carefully gathered volumes. Said volumes respond to the sensitivities of the immediate context.

This tower will come with active frontages too, with shop space and an urban garden functioning as the base. A building at 9 Fenning Street shall remain too. The original plan was to demolish it but the new proposal will convert it into a community and retail space.
