A sign for the eagerly awaited Soho Theatre in Walthamstow was recently added to the structure’s roof. This is ahead of its 2025 opening date. The update was shared on X by the head of casework at preservation company Twentieth Century Society. They said that exciting things were happening at the Walthamstow Grade II 1930s Granada. Waltham Forest Council gave confirmation that the 970-seat theatre remains on track to open early in 2025. As of yet though, there has been no confirmation of specific month or date.
Similar to its Dean Street equal, Soho Theatre Walthamstow is going to play host to international and UK comedy. There will also be educational programmes, pantomimes, screenings, cabaret, and theatre. Hopes have the venue bringing in as much as £61 million to the local economy over ten years.
