With POCA the landlords and an agent who collected £112,000 in rent from the tenants may have to pay back all of the money they made. A confiscation order and bills to repair the property could also be issued.

The landmark case shows that Brent Council has a zero toleration policy for rogue landlords. The authority is willing to use all of the powers available to them to protect tenants. In addition, they will work to punish landlords and agents who don’t comply with the rules.
