Canning Town in the London Borough of Newham is the focus of a huge £3.7 billion regeneration. This is a sign of the wave of investment and development heading eastward from the centre of the city. As part of the project two new town centres are being created in the area, one on each side of the A13. In total around 10,000 new homes will be created too.

The area was primed for regeneration and new developments because it is one of the only affordable destinations left within close proximity to the city centre and Canary Wharf. The latter is just four minutes away, meaning the new homes are sure to attract young professionals who work there.

A new rail service is set to arrive in the area in December next year. Custom House DLR will be on the Elizabeth Line, sitting just one stop from Canary Wharf and a further two from Liverpool Street in the City. These new links will be highly appreciated by residents.

The property scene in Canning Town is quite interesting. The area sits on the site of the former Royal Victoria Docks. Development has created numerous towers of luxury modern flats but there are also scatterings of post-war council houses, Victorian terraced homes, and some low rises too.

With new transport links coming and an amazing supply of modern flats, now may be a good time to invest in the area. Prices remain affordable, even after showing healthy rises in the last few years.
