This will mean a fantastic future for the local area. Let’s look closer and see what is happening. Then, if you need to arrange expert property management in Haringey, you can rely on us.

Redevelopment

Property management HaringeyHaringey Council is working with The Selby Trust, the managers of the community centre. Together, they want to redevelop the property as well as the land around it. Working with Karakusevic Carson Architects, the plans are really interesting.

Central to the plans is to retain the community benefits. The current Selby Centre is home to dozens of social action organisations. However, the building is no longer fit for purpose. The project will give it a new home in a modern, state of the art facility. It’ll ensure the future provision of the services.

The project will also involve the creation of affordable housing. Most importantly, there will be 202 new council homes. This will ensure the properties help residents in Haringey.

Finally, the redevelopment will have a sporting element. It will provide accessible spaces and facilities at the local playing fields. The work will add greenery and improve walking and cycling routes in the area too.

Funding

As one of the top providers of property management in Haringey, we keep an eye on projects that will improve the local area. Selby Urban Village is definitely one of them because it is ambitious and aims to benefit locals the most.

The great thing here is the project can now move forward because funding is in place. The Council will receive £2.7m from the Brownfield Release Fund. This is the Government’s way of providing funds to redevelop Brownfields to create housing.

Interestingly, this is the second time Haringey Council has been successful at applying to the Brownfield Release Fund. They also got £6m in 2023.

Comments

Speaking after securing the funding, Councillor Ruth Gordon, Haringey Council Cabinet Member for Placemaking and Local Economy, had some positive words for the project. She said getting the funds is a “real vote of confidence” in the ambitious project.

Crucially she said the project will ensure “economic, health and wellbeing benefits” for Tottenham as well as the surrounding area. The work will give a better opportunity for locals to connect with nature. It will also support local enterprises and deliver new space for sports and leisure.
