The core thing here is to create 20-minute neighbourhoods. What this means is that people living locally will be able to access all the key services they need in walking distance from their homes. That includes essentials like GPs as well as amenities like shops and restaurants. It will also look at access to green space.
Ealing Council believes the new framework will help to improve local areas, including high streets and neighbourhoods. They also want to make improvements to major towns such as Ealing and Hanwell town centres.
A number of key things will be under consideration to help create the 20-minute neighbourhoods. This includes access to education, healthcare, and public transport. There will also be a focus on employment opportunities so more locals can work close to where they live. This will enhance the local economy, keeping more money locally.
A survey
The Council is currently inviting locals and people who work in the borough to share their thoughts and ideas. They want people to be at the heart of their new proposals. After-all, the key to happy, vibrant neighbourhoods is the people.
With that in mind, the local authority is inviting everyone to complete their survey as part of the public consultation. These responses will help to build the framework for the new Local Plan. It will ensure that proposals in the future will prioritise the needs and hopes of people who live and work in the area.
The future
The survey has been open since 19th July and will remain available until 2nd October. So, people have plenty of time to complete it and give their opinions.
Ealing Council also said they will continue with this same level of openness and inclusion in the future. This way they can enhance local areas to create dynamic places that people will appreciate.
