Maine Tower will add 297 more homes to Canary Wharf when it is finished in late 2018 or early 2019. The 41 storey apartment block will contain a mixture of studio, one, two and three bedroom apartments. Homes on the upper floors will have fantastic views across London. Residents will also be in an excellent location with great transport links and amenities. There will even be an opulent reception area design by renowned interior designer Nicola Fontanella to add extra luxury.
The project was launched on Monday 13th July and saw a high level of interest within the first few hours of properties being made available. People had been queuing for 36 hours to register their interest and invest. The result was a new record for London, with £35 million of sales per hour. The property developer Galliard Homes reported that 208 of the homes were sold in four hours, with sales totalling £140 million.
The apartments in Maine Tower ranged in value from £350,000 to £1.25 million and were bought by investors in Britain and from overseas. Approximately half of the buyers were foreign investors, with many of them looking to purchase properties that would be ready for when their children would reach university age. A sale day was even held in Hong Kong specifically for Chinese investors; 50 properties were sold during the event.
Maine Tower will be part of the Harbour Central development which will see five residential buildings built on the Canary Wharf docklands. There will be a total of 642 apartments built across the site as well as a brand new leisure complex for residents to use. The site will also benefit from new transport developments when the Crossrail is finished in 2018.
